Hey Van
I think you will want to talk about directly with people knowing about
the preprocessor and parser. Maybe Platonides can help.
I tooks like the proposal is about overriding the preprocessor work.
Maybe you can write a preprocessor and have MediaWiki use it instead of
the shipped one? $wgParserConf['preprocessorClass'] might fit that need.
