bug 34882 - rewording - show this post to unhide this post (and derivatives)

Amire80's comment:

Short summary: Please document all the messages with "hide" and "oversight" in
them, and if possible, avoid using "unoversight" entirely.

This confuses things completely. There's hide and there's oversight, and also
unhide and unoversight.

Translators in translatewiki.net complained repeatedly about this - they have
no idea how to translate this. It may be easy to coin English words by sticking
un- to them, but it's not as easy in other languages. Furthermore, if
"oversight" means "hide", then what does "hide" mean?

And even before we get to translation, "unoversight" is not an English word at
all: it doesn't appear in any dictionary and if you Google it, you will hardly
find any results not related to MediaWiki. To begin with, "Oversight" is used
very strangely in the MediaWiki world - in the dictionaries i checked, it's not
even a verb, and its actual technical meaning is quite far from its English
meaning, "watchful care". This means that "unoversight" is second-generation
MediaWiki lingo. So even English-speaking users may find this puzzling
(although i admit that it's curious for the linguist in me).

And by the way, "unhide" also doesn't appear in the English dictionaries i
checked.

Please document all the messages with "hide" and "oversight" in them, and if
possible, avoid using "unoversight" entirely.
