I already suggested that changes to the same page in the same batch could be coalesced together. The larger we make the batches, the more updates we optimize away, but the longer it takes until the Wikipedia pages update. Once we implement this, I think polling frequency and batch size are good tuning screws we can easily use to control the burden of rerendering and other kinds of updates.
