Looks like it would be pretty simple to do preview images for image/media File: pages. For articles, some combination of extracting a portion of text and using the PageImage extension for selecting a thumbnail image would probably do the job. We should also double-check on appropriate goodies for Facebook and other major networks, and perhaps proper native oEmbed support.
