To add some context to what Robla wrote: More than a year ago, Kunal's proposal to make the database storage of content model and format more efficient was approved, but it was never implemented (the original T105652).
I am concerned that the proposed solution would interfere with the implementation of Multi-Content-Revisions (T107595). I therefore propose a somewhat slightly way to solve the content model storage issue, which would at the same time move us towards mutli-content-revisions, described in T142980. The goal of Wednesday's IRC session is to decide to either go ahead with the original proposal or with the modified version (or start over).
