Yaron, this is interesting: 

I know that CCC is using MediaWiki extensively to show the programme and enable
cooperation between participants (incl. sharing a ride or dating),
but when I has a privilege to speak at the Congress in 2014 they used
a homegrown tool called pentabarf to collect and evaluate submissions.

By the way I am amazed how well their MediaWiki usually performs under
a very heavy load during the event.
