If you don't write or deploy Wikimedia production config patches, you can ignore this.
This is a note to highlight a change, which will be obvious as soon as you try to rebase a patch: the parts of configuration that vary per-wiki, which previously have lived in InitialiseSettings.php, have now moved to a (mostly) static array in "VariantSettings.php". This change allows for proper testing of variant configuration, and the eventual migration to actual static configuration files for increased site stability and developer confidence.
