The planned attempt to launch on Thursday Afternoon was scrubbed due to unfavorable launch weather conditions. Another attempt will be made on Friday(11-17)to launch the Boeing Delta II rocket (7925 configuration) with NAVSTAR GPS 2R-16 spacecraft from pad 17A. Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. Weather is forcasted to be more favorable for Friday Afternoon with a 80 percent chance of acceptable conditions.
Launch is scheduled at 2:12 p.m. EST. with a window extending to 2:26 p.m. EST. Satellite seperation is scheduled for 68 minutes after launch. GPS 2R-16 (GPS 2R-M3) is the third in the new "Modernized" version of the 2R series of satellites that feature many improvements for greater accuracy, and tougher resistance to interference and enhanced performance for users around the world. GPS 2R-16 will go into the Plane B, Slot 4 position to replace the GPS 2A-22 satellite launched in August 1993. GPS 2A-22 will then be repositioned with the GPS 2A-27 satellite at Slot 2 within Plane B to serve as backup.
