Also note that when building for 64-bit, you'll want to specify --libdir=/usr/lib64, and to make everything work in both the wimax-tools and (i think) the NS, you need to do: autoreconf -i to regenerate the the build files the tarballed Makefiles have generated paths to stuff /usr/lib and elsewhere already.
