Hi--and thanks for looking at this. The distro is Ubuntu Linux 10.4, 64 bit. uname -a returns the following: Linux squeaky 2.6.34-rc5 #2 SMP Wed Jun 9 13:51:33 EDT 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux I'm pretty sure I'm using the latest files available from the repo.
I'm running the kernel compiled from the wimax repo, borrowing my existing configuration file, with wimax options enabled (they already were). No obvious build problems or stability issues. The system is an Acer Aspire 5740-5255, with an Intel 6250 wimax card installed. I tried passing alternate/additional library locations to convince the linker to look for libz in 32 bit library locations using command line switches, and tried: export LPATH=/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib32:/usr/local/lib32 --but all were ignored. I still need to look into how configure builds the makefile, perhaps it ignores supplied switches and variables. Thanks for the response--I figure just knowing what this failed on might help.
