I'm never sure about the 'rules' for removing devices. On my laptop, I'm scrupulous about doing the "make hardware safe to remove" before I pull a PCMCIA card, but I'm pretty casual about plugging and unplugging SCSI devices [and my flash drive, in particular] with no particular fanfare...
Is that safe?
