Alas, not really: that changes the _cache_ times but not the _lookup_ timeout. XP sends out a DNS inquiry and is timing out [and so saying "host not found"] before it gets an answer. The answer is there, but the client just isn't waiting long enough for it to come in before giving up. That's not the same as a negative cached name, because it isn't getting back an SOA [which means, basically "you lose"] but just nothing at all...
