Goto Accessories and right-click on Windows Explorer | click properties
|
type this line in the Target box after %SystemRoot%/explorer.exe which
should look
like this when done:

 %SystemRoot%/explorer.exe c:\documents and settings\username\my
documents

The %SystemRoot% is a system variable that stores the system path
C:\Windows\System32.
The path and folder name where the Windows system files are located.
Typically, this is C:\Windows, although you can designate a different
drive or folder when you install Windows. You can use the value
%systemroot% to replace the actual location of the folder that contains
the Window system files. To identify your systemroot folder, click
Start, click Run, type %systemroot%, and then click OK.

This command line will pass the parameter C:\documents and
settings\username\my documents
path directly to Windows Explorer and lock in the path to my
documents.

You can pass any fully qualified pathname to Windows Explorer to open
it to just that part location on any drive
except all removable disks. I'm not sure how Windows Explorer handles
partial path names. You can only do this with fixed disks this
requirement must be stirctly obyed.

Next time when you execute Windows explorer it will always open to that
path.

Afternoon all,

This Q relates to Windows 2000 Pro.

When I run up Windows Explorer from the Accessories menu the windows
opens up with the My Documents folder selected and expanded in the
left-hand pane. Is there anyway to get it to start up with the My
Computer selected instead?

I always have to shrink down the My Documents folder before I can get
access to my harddrives.

Thanks,

Rob
