Hi all,
I recently purchased a portable 40GB hard drive. It comes in an enclosure that connects to the computer via USB. The manual calls the product as a "USB 2.0 or IEEE ] 394 Hard Disk" (I have used OCR on the manual so cannot be absolutely certain that the name is correct)
1. The enclosure has a single cable but towards the end that connects to the computer, there is another cable attached. So, there are 2 USB connectors. I have plugged only 1 of them into the USB port of my computer and the disk works. What is the second connector for?
2. If I have the disk connected before boot up, then it shows as a USB mass storage device. the drive does not show in "my computer." However, if I plug in the disk after boot up, then the volume shows as expected. Device manager lists the hard disk as
"ST94019A USB Device" Why is this happening?
3. The box contains a tiny cd-ROM. What kind of drive is used to play such a cd? Its approximately half the size of a standard cd.
