winxphome sp2
-------------------------
I upgraded my win media player from v9 to v10 because the latest version is
supposed to include mp3 encoding so I could rip to mp3 instead of wma. It
installed with no problem and I rebooted but when I try to rip, I get a dialog
box that says:

"Windows media player cannot rip the track because a compatible mp3 encoder is
not installed on your computer."

When I click on more information it takes me to a page that wants to sell me
the encoder that was supposed to be part of the upgrade.

Media Player is not listed in the add/remove programs so I dont know how to
uninstall it and try a clean install. It is listed in windows components but
uncheching the box will only remove the shortcut, not the program.

I do have other programs that will rip to mp3 but it annoys me when I cant get
programs such as this to work as promised.

Thanks, Karen
