The problem with OEM software is that it is usually altered so it will only work with the drive model with which it was supplied.
If you do not add another drive there is usually no problem - and you can usually download updates (not upgrades) to the main functionality of the package If you change to another drive and (if needed, using the original CD) uninstall the software that came with the original drive before you change the drive then there should be no problem installing the replacement drive and software (except for CD-RW formatting mode compatibilities possibly causing severe annoyance trying to read discs created with the old software) It's when you add in a second drive that you should expect problems using the OEM software.
