huh? my new gigabyte board needs no power adaptors yet has 2 sata controllers? And the PSU is bog-standard? (I have 1 sata caddy installed plus 4 ide devices)

Some HDs have both the standard molex & a place for this new power connector. My WD 74g Raptors do but there is a warning on the drive not to hook up both power connectors to the drive. Many other SATA drives only have a place for the new connector.
Have you seen some of the new PSes that the power cables plug into the device & the PS ? This is neat in that you only plug in the power cables that you need & don't have to worry about tucking unused cables elsewhere.
