Thanks, the resolution I am speaking of is my desktop which is now set at true
color 32 bit and resolution of 800 x 600. I like stuff big.:-) My paint will
no longer let me choose bmp unless there is a setting somewhere that I'm
unaware of?

Hi Lona,
I'm also running 2000 Pro, & I can get Paint to *not* save as jpg, too! If
you select an area of an image & "copy to" from the edit menu, you get a
choice of only bmp. Just save at the best resolution (24-bit), then re-open
this new image & *then* save as jpg.
