Many thanks All-!!
I'm busily putting your comments in to practice.
Being over- the-hill and garrulous as I now seem to be and since the subject
was once again surfaced, I seem impelled to remark that Roy lived just
outside the borders of my old home town, Middletown, NY and one day having
alerted him of my visit to "home" I spent most of a day with him on computer
talk eaerlier in the year that claimed his life, and enjoyed a great
''learning expirence". I certainly treasure the opportunity I had at that
time. Having grown up using the road he was on that night, I can only say
to all or any of you other hard drinking Marines still out there, better
think ttwice, if not mucho, mucho before having a few too many on a dark
night at 2:00AM no matter how close to home. What a terrible loss.
As for Kenney, I even had the temerity to "take him to task" on the
barrcaks language, on which I was also very well versed from WWII service
table," HEY Mac!-- pass the "f....k...g butter" and which he so much
"enjoyed". To my surprise he sent a most civil reply and admonished all on
the list to honor and defer to my venerable participation. Several more
years have now rolled by and I'm srill able to punch a bunch, of keys that
is, but I 'm not digging as deep into current programs as once I did when
'TinyBasic- thru Q-Basic, and the MS DOS's 1-6, held sway.
.
So I can really appreciate "A little help from my friends" now and then.
Cheers
Bob Decker, The Piankatank Kid in Old Tidewater Virginy.
