Agree with you on the points. And those same people who are running Windows
9x PCs who can't get the level of security that they need they can either
supliment the anitvirus security with freeware supliments like AVG for
instance.

But if you want all of the features in today's OS as the article mentionted
the user has no choice but to buy a newer PC and the OS that either came
preinstalled with windows XP or purchased seperately like any flavor of
Linux for instance.

It says in the article that's what MSFT intends.

This may help some small businesses but not many because they don't run a
server per se. It certainly will NOT help those people that are running 9x
on stand alone machines whether used for business or not.
