He's sending the message using RTF formatting. While there are ways you can
crack it, and they are fairly easy as long as Eudora shows it as an attachment,
you should tell him to resend it using plain text format so he learns that RTF
format is bad. (HTML should work too, but occasionally it doesn't.)

To try and open it, google for fentun. Drop the winmail.dat on the fentun.exe
and it should show you the attachment that's inside and allow you to save it.

How he attached it should not make a difference - but there are some
circumstances when HTML formatting and Word editor is used that cause the
attachment for HTML, and it's possible how it's attached comes into play in
that case.

I am the only one in the office who uses Eudora. My boss sent an attachment
from outlook. Eudora has downloaded it as winmail.dat. My colleagues using
Outlook are able to view the attachment. Its supposed to be a powerPoint
template. What am I supposed to do?

A colleague stated that the winmail.dat issue is arising since my boss is
dragging the file into outlook rather than attaching it.

Is this correct? I would like him to attach using outlok's file > attach
option but would like to explain to him why it is necessary.
