As one of the last remaining people on the list still using NortonAV, (maybe??),
I have to admit they are starting to try my patience... <grin>
(I could turn "Norton repairs" into a local cottage industry... <???>)

First part is a tale of my "work-around" for a problem. (YMMV)
The second part will stir up "should I?" type replies...
I'd like to limit the second part to people that actually did something with
Norton,
(other than getting rid of it). I am not looking for lots of "Norton Hate"
answers...
Side Comment: <grin> Last time I fixed Norton was on a DELL.
TWO topics together, ripe for hate answers on this list... <grin>...

Part One:
My wife's XP-Pro computer, (as clean and simple as they get - except Office97),
started to ignore any and all Liveupdates from Norton... (Especially the DEFs,
for the last 17 days...) (It used to go and get them and install them
automatically...)

Lately it has warned to run Live-Update, and then when it was - said
"everything"
was "OK" and already updated.
The Status screen (thankfully) proved that to be a LIE...

I reconfigured the program, turning everything Live update off and then back
on...
(Did not help...)
Knowing Norton "generally" has different ways to do the same thing, using
internal
code that is NOT the same (I guess) since one way does not work, but the other
way
does, I re-configured One-Touch (one-button?) cleanup to ONLY check everything
related to live update... That gave me links to launch a Live-update session
that went
and got a lot of patches, and warned me to "run it again"...
It went and got a big Norton WMI patch...
Don't know if the "Auto" part will ever work again (they also started hounding
me
for money since the SUBS will expire soon...), but I buy ahead (on sale and
AMIR)
so I don't have to rush out and buy anything... PLUS, they were always VERY
happy
to hound you to pay up a month early (subs) and then screw you out of that
month you had left...
(I always wait till "a day or two before" to upgrade...)

Which brings up my next question... (Part two.)

How "screwed" am I trying to upgrade to NAV 2004?
I have it as part of NSW2004PRO and also standalone...

I have heard some bad things about NSW2004PRO.
Mostly new limitations with Ghost???
(I only use Ghost from a bootable media. I use Acronis TI more...)

Please go easy on the "Norton hate mail"...

           Thanks in Advance... Rick Glazier

Uninstall anything named Norton as Symantec has ruined most everything they've touched & if they haven't ruined it yet only means they haven't owned the company they bought out long enough yet but give them time & they most certainly will.
