www.yousendit.com/ seems to do the trick for me.
I was looking for a way to send a file but not go on AOL to do it, plus I had
read about FTP in the past and I thought there was a way I could go that
route.

If your question is more properly phrased as "If you don't have your own
DOMAIN," but you do, in fact have an ISP, as you have AOL, then that is a
different thing. There are many places online that offer free file storage,
of varying capacity, and you can upload files to one of these (after opening
an account), pass the access info to whoever you want to be able to download
the files and they can do so. I did a Google search on FREE ONLINE FILE
STORAGE and got in excess of 36,000,000 hits. If that is what you have in
mind, you should be able to find something there. >>
