I do have a personalised "tree" by d-clicking on the dark grey path bar
above the folders, is that where u mean ?

In mine it's dark blue & they call the personalised "tree" a "Directory Menu" or "Directory Hotlist". I have over 20 items on mine with several sub-menus branching off of it.

(say what u like about TC it is real ugly)

When an app does as many things as TC does the it would be ugly too. It does take time to get to all the nuances. Heck I still don't use the tabs yet probably because I've been using the Directory Hotlist for so long. This combined with the back & forward buttons on my mouse I find it indispensable especially if the paths that I may jump to are on other drives. I can dclick the path name at the top or single click the * in the upper right hand corner then click Windows to jump from MyDocuments that's on another drive very quickly & if I want to go back then I just use the back button on my mouse or if I want to jump further back then I could use the Directory History button which is the down arrow next to the * in the upper right hand corner but most likely where I want to go next is already on my Directory Hotlist. Very useful even if it is ugly. TC is the only app that I know that copies the highlighted filenames to the clipboard which is just one of the many internal commands you can put on one of your personalized menus. Another did you know is that if you do a slow dbl click on the path listing above you can copy it so when some one asks where is so & so locked you can browse to it then copy the path & paste in your reply email. I'm telling you I can't go a day with out TC on my system & I even carry it every where with me on my USB thumb drive.
