An inquiry from a friend: ------------------------------ System 1: Windows 2000 pro, NTFS file system. Same problem with system 2 running Win XP Pro. Same problem in yet another, system 3 running Win2K Pro but on FAT32 file systems.
Problem: new printer installation, an HP 7310xi, wired network connected. That is, there is no computer (except that within the printer itself) which operates as "print server". Latest printer install software off the web. Admin user prints just fine. Restricted users (Win2K) or Limited users (WinXP) cannot print. Clue in event viewer is event ID 61, error code from the print processor 3003. I haven't been able to use those clues to any advantage either in the HP or MS knowledge bases. I get no event failure records in the WinXP system. If I logout, login as admin, change the non-admin user to the group "administrators", log out, log in as the formerly unprivileged user, printing works fine. Don't even need to reboot. I've given "everyone" "full access" to all of the following: -- All the printer icons (in "Printers"); -- all the software in ..\Program Files\HP and .\Program Files\Hewlett- Packard (except in the FAT32 file systems, where those permissions are inherent already); -- all the registry keys HKLM\Software\HP, HKLM\Software\Hewlett-Packard, HKLM\Software\Lead Technologies, Inc.; and all their respective children. None of those changes had any apparent effect at all. Any suggestions where else to try? ---------------------------------- /Bernie\ -- Bernie Cosell Fantasy Farm Fibers mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Pearisburg, VA --> Too many people, too few sheep <-- -- ---------------------------------------- The WIN-HOME list is hosted on a Windows 2000(TM) machine running L-Soft international's LISTSERV(R) software.
