You guys are missing the point. I want to be able to simply copy or move
a file to a dvd-rw disc and be able to read it or move it back
somewhere. I don't want it encrypted by a back up program. I am running
Karen's Replicator. It keeps the backups current. Will only add new
files. InCD was mentioned because it is running since I have the latest
Nero suite.
However, the subsequent times that I put the disc in the dvd writer, it
can't be read. Replicator can't find the folder to copy files to. I
don't understand why.
I don't believe we are missing the point. Karen's Replicator can't read the
disk that is formatted with InCD's packet writing software. Whether it's
InCD or DirectCD doesn't make any difference but the problem is with packet
writing disks. Karen's Replicator can not write to a disk that doesn't
appear to be as normal HD & hence your problem so you've taken to using
InCD to make the disk appear as normal HD. IMHO you've taken one problem &
put a band aid on it but come to find out the band aid has issues as well.
Now you appear to insinuate that the whole problem is with Replicator when
it's probably not but rather is most likely caused by using InCD in the 1st
place. This style of software has always been problematic even when you
change versions of the same app therefore I urge you to find another backup
solution. If you don't want encrypted backups which btw most backup apps do
NOT do then I strongly suggest that you use an external HD. If you're
adamant about using InCD then I would look into using different disks or
finding what's wrong with the app.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
