Well, MAYBE it's resolved. But I'd like to understand it. It seems as though Eudora has been struggling and struggling to download something and that was taking up all the computer's psychic space. When the message finally got through, there was nothing there. But now things seem OK. Any idea what this was?

Only thing I can think of is that Norton caught a virus in an e-mail and when I went looking for the problem message through webmail I found the one that I think the virus had been attached to. I deleted it and since then everything has been fine.

I WISH I UNDERSTOOD THIS STUFF. Are there any good references for people who really hate IP addresses?

xxx and happy fourth to all, even (especially) the Brits!!!

I should add that I have tried connecting without zone alarm and without norton.

Also I think now that the problem isn't connecting per se, but downloading. Things seem to go out OK, but they don't come in.

Maybe that helps.
