Backup the clients files, and do a clean install of Windows to rule out a
corrupt install / virus ect.

You need to determine whether its software or hardware that is the 
problem.  Use a linux bootable live cd.  If that runs without 
problems then its not hardware.  On the other hand if there is a 
hardware problem there is a good chance that linux will complain 
about it !
