If the modules are from a failed install, and you have some idea of the
install (from the directory dates) - then uninstall and reinstall may be the
best option.

Otherwise:
Firstly - make sure you can find the backup and system restore/creation
discs
Then - check the names of the .exe and .sys files against the modules
running
 (ctrl-alt-delete - Task manager - processes)
and - right-click on My Computer - select Manage, Services and Applications,
Services
Right-click on a service and select properties do not change the startup
type or delete any entries -
the most you should do at this time is to Stop a service you have identified
as being run from those directories

Now - having installed the recovery console so you can reboot and restore
the directory names
and determined that none of the modules in those directories appear to be in
use:

change the names of the directories so the modules won't be found

reboot and hope

If all appears to be OK - then consider deleting the directories
