This problem is still with me, and now it has a new trick, taskbar properties does not show the CPU% indicator icon in the list. There must be a way to fix the problem, because it fixes itself,
after 2 weeks. This is too long between uses.

I have a program that often uses 100% of CPU and the computer locks up if I click on anything when it is at 100%. My use of Windows Task Manager lets me know when it is safe to do other things, by the CPU% indicator icon in the lower right of the taskbar. The problem is that the icon disapears for weeks at a time, sometimes I can get it back by going to taskbar properties and resetting the hide and show checkbox. Sometimes it does not work and I must restart. Sometimes restarting does not return the icon. What else can I do to fix this problem?

Thank You Joe Harrison
