We have used Norton SystemWorks at my home for about 8 years. I read that
Norton has not invested much effort in improving it's Utilities over the years.

We have 3 PCs, all of which are close to having their V definitions
subscription service expire in August.

Does it make more sense to just pay for the renewal on each PC @$25/PC; or buy
a 3-PC version of NSW 2005 for about $90; or just keep the Norton Utilities as
they are (since not being improved by Norton) and buy a completely different AV
program?

It would be economical in your case to just purchase a multi-PC version of
Norton Antivirus 2005 rather than getting the full SW 2005 suite to keep you
administrative licensing costs down since you don't want to deal with the
hastle of buying the whole enchelada just to get AV 2005.

I have read and read about the different AV applications on the web in reviews
and get very mixed signals. One review says AV "X" is best; another says AV
"Y" is best and so it goes. No consensus seemed apparent. All of them cost
$25 to $40 to renew after a year, so it seems there is no really low cost way
to have good, up to date AV definitions without ponying up the $.

In that case go with either AVG7 or Trust-EZ they're free and low cost
alternatives at best.

I am interested in hearing from the List. What advice would you give someone
in my position...which is a common situation, because we all must have AV
software!
