Some of the Sony DV cameras will not use anything other than Sony batteries.
Sony says, it's to show exactly how much charge there is. Bunch of crap.
It's to make sure Sony gets the $70-$90, next time you need one.
Again IIRC my Sony TRV-510 DV-Hi8 uses a proprietary battery but I've been
able to find generics that are rechargeable that work fine & of course a
recharger <http://www.batterysupply.com/lm-msc1.htm> which makes it nice
not to have them recharging in the camera & always having a spare recharged
before we need them. The camera like most Sony cameras comes with I-Link
aka firewire & one can buy from OrangeMicro for $10 IIRC a driver that
allows one to use their firewire camera as a computer videocam or
webcam. Now I can put my fishtank on the internet. Whoopie.
