That's not really a command line "switch". That's just passing a variable (the filename) to the program. Sort of like typing "edit c:\autoexec.bat" at the command line. A program's "switches" should do something to alter the normal running of the program. Telling it what file to open doesn't change the way it operates. An old wp command line switch for example was /fl which was used for troubleshooting and for certain video cards. Also "switches" usually start with a slash (/fl).

The commandline wpwin12.exe "C:\Documents And Settings\user\my documents\book.wpm" will open the file book.wpm inside of wordperfect.
