You are bypassing it or they didn't bother to set one for the hidden
Admin account that comes up in Safe mode (SM)? (Or is that hidden SM
Admin account just an XP Home thing?) If you are gaining access in
SM to the Admin account, you can actually do all kinds of
things. You can, for example, change the rights to your normal user
account, even elevate it to Admin, etc. etc. or do nasty things like
completely trash your system if you don't know what you are
doing. Then you would get to explain to tech support what happened. Oops.
Not that I'm advocating that anyone try and do something like
that. SM isn't designed to install or run apps anyway, it's for
getting your system back on it's feet when something goes
wrong. IMHO, their failing to lock down safe mode access should
definitely call for diciplinary action. But that's just me.
If they failed to lock that down, I wonder if it means they left the
Recovery Console wide open, too? Home doesn't even give you the
option of an RC password, but for once, that may be a good thing that
was taken out of Home.
