Subject: Creating a connection from PC to mainframe
I have a IBM RISC6000 box connected to a hub which works fine internally
for
our inhouse PC's. I would like to be able to access this RISC6000 box from
the internet. We have high speed access into a router for our PC's. We
have
2 NIC's-one for the hub and one for the internet. I know it can be done.
We
also have emulation packages that allow our PC's to access the RISC6000
internally. I don't know where to begin so that the remote PC's can see
the
router then have the router point to the RISC6000. I can connect the
router
to the hub, but where to go after that?? Any suggestions on websites or
just
your plain old knowledge would be great. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 router
with a 4 port switch and most PC's run XP Home or Pro.
Thanks
Jim
You can connect to the RS6000(AIX) via ftp or telnet. This will allow you to
login to your account on AIX. If you want to be able to share drives on the
AIX box you'll need to install Samba.
