If Microsoft was serious about preventing us from installing Windows with a far superior later released CD they would change the Product Key series with each release. This would prevent installing Windows Home OEM SP1 or SP1 and then using a Product Key that came with an earlier Windows Home OEM CD that did not have any SP slipstreamed.

How many millions of Product Keys are there now & you want them to come up with new ones every quarter?

I would have no problem if they went to that system with Vista, if they would send us quarterly Updater CD's so we would not have to jump through hoops to update a version of Windows that is from 1 to 3 years old. This is how they handled NT, right?

NO & I suppose MSFT should give us these quarterly update CDs for free also ?

If you had SP4 for NT it would install without having to first install SP1, SP2 & SP3.

IIRC One does NOT have to install Sp1 prior to installing Sp2 for Xp.

I am not looking for a slick way out of some reasonably expected to do work here. I just want a quick way to get from Windows XP Home, released in October of 2001 to what Windows XP is today. Using one comprehensive and up to date Updater CD is reasonable, even if it takes from 30 minutes to an hour to install. What is not reasonable is having to spend 2 or more hours updating a clean install of Windows of any version.

It does appear that you're looking for a slick way not to make your own unattended Xp Cd not to mention all the slipstreamed copies that you requested. The fact that you offer to pay mailing costs is oh so generous. NOT.

Once I get the Microsoft Security Update CD installed on a clean install of Windows 98SE or Me, I still have over an hour of more recent updates to download via my cable ISP connection and install. Microsoft should have followed up with another comprehensive Updater CD for Windows 98SE and Me.

You missed the point. 98 is EOL & the fact that they provide security updates at all is a amazing. You should be telling your clients that MSFT no longer supports 98 & that it's in their best interest that they upgrade if they are that concerned about security.
