All joking apart Kylde you will find that many 'plastic' shell like objects
(and car interiors) are clipped together with items molded in at the time
they were injection molded. These tangs and slots are so finely made and
quite strong and are designed to be invisible.

Take it that it is replaceable for a few $ and get a set of watchmaker's
screwdrivers or better still an old medical / dental scraper - my one has a
1" long flat spatula end with a curved finish and the other end is similar
to a flat blade screwdriver but sharpened like a knife.

This flat sharp end is idea to slip between the join between the base and
cover shell. Once you have found the attachment points it might be
possible to exert enough force to allow the clip to slip over it's holding
pip or you might be able to gently push the clip blade to release the
pressure and allow it to unclip.

However, you must still resign yourself to the fact that they are not
designed to come apart and if they do not work at the time of manufacturing
they are usually dumped.
