Pete,
Let's see, I think you said somebody e-mailed this file
to you. Ask the person to re-send it.
Have you tried opening a DOS shell and copying the
problem spreadsheet to a file with a new name? Then,
opening the new file in Excel?
Have you tried to import the spreadsheet into Access?

Hi Pete,
Here are two suggestions:
1) In Windows Explorer, right click on the file
and select properties. If "Read Only" is checked,
uncheck it and your problem will be solved.
Already did that.
2) If (1) fails, open the file as "Read Only" and
then save it under a different file name.
Um, did I forget to say that I can't open the file??
Thx.
