The "right side QL area" is NOT a Quick Launch bar. It is the "system
tray". The system tray icons represent RUNNING programs.

To get rid of a tray item:
a) stop the program from automatically starting or running
OR
b) look through the program's options for a check-box that talks about the
"tray" and un-check it.

No, I just want to remove them from the right-side QL area. I can get to the
programs in other ways when/if I want to use them. I've tried looking in
their
Settings area for ways to remove them from QL, but so far I haven't found
anything.
