Oh, you're thinking of switching users, a.k.a. fast user switching or FUS.
I run with FUS disabled, and in that condition, Win-L just locks the screen
(requiring password to resume).

My guess is that the session most recently active on the local console must
be the same username as the sign-on used for Remote Desktop, to avoid the
"user will be logged out" warning.

I clearly don't exactly understand what XP means by "sessions".  If I win-
L, I can log in as another user without logging off the first user.
When I'm in that situation, how many sessions are there?  [And,if I win-l 
from the second user so I'm back at the login screen, which sessions are 
which now?
