(reply part 2) Re: 16-bit stuff: programs I write in QBasic seem to run OK under anything from DOS 3.3 to XP Pro, but then it doesn't rely on platform-related drivers & so on (I guess!). At work, we had an app written for us which ran fine under 9X, but not on anything else, so I suggest that you test any apps which you use on a friend's 2K machine first! I believe you will have no compatibilty problems running 2K on old hardware. For my next machine, I will probably move to XP, to keep the complete kit within the same generation. My current machine is 5 years old, with a 750MHz Duron, also 512MB RAM.
