Is it true that the NVIDIA nForce 4 (or 3) chip set will not support WIN98se?

Yepper. nVidia hasn't made any 98 drivers. Why one would want state of the art hardware with an antique OS is also beyond me.

At the risk of deeply offending those who despise DOS and FDDs, could I ask which current chip sets _do_ support 98se. The major manufacturers and newegg ain't talking.

Why would you want to put an archaic OS on a state of the art machine? Xp can be made to look & feel like 98 if that's what you're want. I do this for all my clients that want it at no extra charge. nForce 4 chips do support a single FDD. If you want to format the drive in FAT32 & run XP you can do that they you can boot to DOS all you want. I can barely see a need for one FDD but why do you need two of them?

Well, Wayne, if a customer came in to your hardware store and asked for a red fligit, would you try to make the customer feel supid by telling him that the color red has long been replaced by blue and fligits are archaic an foolish to consider? All this because a guy named Bill told you so. Some people who see no need for computer game playing feel used to using FDDs.

Why don't you just say Gee I don't know the answer to your question and be done with it?

Jim
