One more follow-up to my last post. You might try Google for this: "linksys
BEFSX41 will not tracert" (no quotes) which turns up, what appears to be, a
gold mine of information regarding the router woes.

I'm fed up with Linksys. I have a BEFSX41 router/firewall that I have used
for about 9 months now. During this time, it has given me nothing but fits.
I can't traceroute through it because the router will reboot if you try to
do it. It just stops passing traffic at random intervals and has to be
rebooted.
I tried getting a replacement from Linksys Tech Support, but the one they
sent me didn't even pass the initial power on test. It just kept locking
up.
Is Netgear a good brand? I want a very good firewall/router unit that I can
rely on without having to do much work on it. I've been looking at the
Netgear business products, and they seem pretty good.
