I think backups are good generally and that partition work for some is 
inherently
risky; however, having said that I have taken no special steps to backup and my
experience with PM has not been particularly time consuming. I suppose it all
depends on the amount of data on the drive. I've never lost data with PM, which 
may
mean that I am very lucky and/or the product is reasonably stable and 
well-tested.
