So far thanks to James Button & Jim McQueeney for their input.
Perhaps I should emphasise that low noise level and running temperature
are THE two major requirements after good battery life.
This machine will mainly be used for wireless hot-spot gmail access,
in-car Map-Point/GPS navigation, MS Access/Excel records and digital
photograph temporary download/storage.
I replaced my 20g IBM with a 40g Toshiba drive a couple of years ago
in my then 3yr old P700. I can tell you that in most cases the larger
the drive & the more data that you have on it the higher temp &
shorter battery life you'll have. Sorry but that's the nature of the
beast. OBTW you don't need more than 40g to run the stuff you've
indicated as I was running all that within 20g easily.
FWIW please don't preface your post with > as it makes it difficult
to follow what you wrote versus what you're quoting.
Thanks.
