Possibly the file you picked to delete is in use by windows, or was marked as in use by something you have run - MS Word or IE perhaps Try safe mode..
Could also be a problem with the directory structure - chkdsk /f etc.. However, it has always worked flawless except for today when I tried to delete 3784 duplicate font files. I got the message the "cannot delete files". Ok so maybe they are read only - so I selected the folder and asked WinXP to change the folder and all sub folders to not to be read only (uncheck the little box in properties. This told me it would take 32 mins bt finished in 2 seconds and it still won't delete the fonts. Any ideas as to why? Could it be too many? Could it still be read Only?
