I never cooled an HD to try to get it to initilize "one last time"
Me neither, but I can not say the same thing about phonebooking. That just
gives you peace of mind that you have exhaused all efforts. I have never
seen phonebooking get a hard drive back running long enough to copy off
data.
My most successful data recovery (if you count the effort the computer went
through) was a Ghost job that took 14 hours to read and copy only 2
gigabytes of data from a hard drive.
