I tried that, I removed symantec/shared files, I used startup cop, and still the program still wants to load something. I am using win xp pro if I didn't mention that earlier.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, but so far no luck.

I tried that, it didn't help. The only way I can get the pop-up error to stop was to create a \symantec directory and insert the dll it was looking for. I don't want that to be my final solution, there has got to be a better way.

There is probably an installed driver related to that file. In the Device Manager, under the View menu item, select the 'Show hidden devices' option. A 'Non-Plug and Play Drivers' device type should appear. Expand that device type and see if there aren't any left over norton/symantec drivers listed. Uninstall any that may be listed. Their drivers usually start with sym. Check the driver's properties if unsure.
