I just found out that we lost a list member to cancer last month.
This guy was a lurker so most people haven't missed him but he's been
with the Windows Lists since 95 & he went out of his way to stop in
Ashland to see me of all people. His name was Tom Matthews. He liked
to flirt with the ladies of all ages by telling them his fictitious
room number at the so & so motel & the like as he was just kidding &
enjoyed life to the max.

I hadn't rec'd an email from him since the end of July & I feared the
worst so much so that I didn't have the courage to look for his obit
until recently. After we had met we had become friends as if we had
been friends my whole life writing each other at least weekly. I knew
he had throat cancer that had been in remission but then it flared up
last year. He seemed to enjoy my epistles & we always exchanged
friendly barbs like some of on the list still do. I will miss him.
All this brings up the feelings that I had when I discovered that
Richard Austin had passed away & I had never met Richard. It's
amazing how one can get attached via email. If any 2 gentlemen
deserved to go to heaven it's these 2 guys & it's been an honor to
have known them both.
