This computer was setup for a former employee and has a folder
C:\Documents and Settings\username. However, when I look at User

I'm assuming that the IT person here somehow removed the old user account
and set up this new person, but why didn't the old account info go away,
and why doesn't the new person have a directory hierarchy under Documents
and Folders?
Finally, how can I correct this w/o losing the files that thje old user
had stored?
Whoa... be careful here... this is what I warned about on another
post/topic... if the 'olduser' account was *renamed* to 'newuser', the
'newuser' account will continue to use the "C:\Documents and
Settings\'olduser'" folder. Since there is no "C:\Documents and
Settings\'newuser'" folder, it would seem to confirm the 'newuser' account
is a renamed account.
You can also check the list at [Control Panel - System applet - System
Properties page - Advanced tab - User Profiles section - Settings button].
If the 'olduser' account was deleted, but the folder contents were not
deleted, there will be an 'Unknown' account listed. There should also be a
'newuser' account listed. If there is only one account listed between the
'olduser' and the 'newuser', then they are one and the same.
There is really nothing to correct, and you now know where to find
'newuser' documents. :)
That's what I said already but Pete didn't understand. If there is no
"C:\Documents and Settings\'newuser'" folder then that is the only
explanation I can think of. When you edit the user and change the name it
keeps the olduser folder and still uses that. The new user's files will
already be mixed in with the old user's.
Why is there no longer an account for 'olduser'?
